MDNZ (Macula Degeneration NZ) will be hosting a free Awareness and Education Seminar in Wanaka on Saturday 6 March 3 to 4.30pm at Lake Wanaka Centre.
Dr Harry Bradshaw will share the latest information on treatments and the management of this chronic disease.
Like most of the world, NZ has an aging population. MD is becoming an increasing public health issue,. MD is a degenerative retinal eye diseases that causes loss of central vision resulting in the inability to read, drive , recognise faces and see colour clearly. MD is progressive and painless, but generally does not lead to total blindness.1 in 7 people over the age of 50 have some evidence of MD, and 1 in 4 people over the age of 80 have significant vision loss from MD.
MDNZ is a registered charity with the aim to raise awareness and to reduce the spread an impact of MD in New Zealand.
