Every Tuesday and Wednesday

Do you want to give back to nature and the local community, while learning about native plants? Te Kākano Aotearoa Trust is a Wānaka community-based native plant nursery that needs your help!

Nursery volunteer days are open to all members of the public and are held every Tuesday & Wednesday 9 am – 12 if the weather is dry.

These sessions teach propagation/cultivation techniques, leading on to planting and nurturing of the young plants in the wild, and are guided by our Nursery Manager. Coffee, tea and snacks are provided for all our volunteers. Check out their website for driving directions and more info.

The planting season is now finished. 5,522 eco-sourced native plants were planted by the community in the Upper Clutha Basin. Thank you to everyone who helped and supported this great work!
