Celebrating Plastic Free July at Wastebusters Green Drinks Event

On July 31st, I had the pleasure of attending the Wastebusters Green Drinks event, a fitting celebration to mark the end of Plastic Free July. The evening was filled with inspiring conversations, engaging activities, and forward-thinking ideas, highlighted by a powerful presentation from Ruth Blunt, who shared Wastebusters' exciting plans to evolve and grow.

Ruth's talk was the centerpiece of the event, offering insights into how Wastebusters aims to continue its mission of reducing waste and promoting sustainability within our community. Her vision for the future includes expanding current programs, developing new initiatives, and fostering stronger community engagement. Ruth's enthusiasm and commitment to environmental sustainability were truly infectious, leaving everyone in attendance motivated to contribute to these efforts.

In addition to Ruth's inspiring presentation, we had the opportunity to get hands-on with some fantastic eco-friendly activities. We made our own beeswax wraps, a sustainable alternative to plastic wrap, which was both fun and practical. We also crafted homemade coffee scrub and oat milk, learning simple ways to reduce waste and make environmentally friendly products at home.

The Green Drinks event provided a fantastic opportunity for like-minded individuals to come together, share ideas, and celebrate the progress made during Plastic Free July. It was heartening to see so many community members passionate about reducing plastic waste and eager to support Wastebusters' initiatives.
