Paws and Claws: Teens' Mischief Leads to Unexpected Police Dog Encounter

Three teens broke into Trentham Racecourse in Upper Hutt, disrupting a police patrol dog training session.

After forcing entry into the main grandstand, they were spotted by a racecourse worker who alerted the Police Dog Training Centre. Sergeant Josh Robertson swiftly organized trainee dog handlers and the local public safety team to surround the building.

 

Constable Logan Menzies and his dog Hayes, along with the team, cleared the building and arrested the teens on the third floor without incident. The youths, aged 15-16, were referred to Youth Aid services.
