This morning on The Breakfast Show we were joined by Julie Scott, Chief Executive of the Queenstown Lakes Community Housing Trust (QLCHT), to talk about an exciting new housing development planned for Wānaka.
The project will be located on McDougall Street, opposite the Community Hub, and is set to bring much-needed affordable housing options to the Upper Clutha.
Julie explained that the Trust continues to focus on creating pathways into secure, long-term housing for locals who are finding it tough to buy or rent in today’s market. The new development will add to QLCHT’s growing portfolio of community housing projects across the district, aimed at helping people stay and thrive in the place they call home.
“Housing affordability is one of the biggest challenges facing our district,” Julie told us on air.
“This new development is another step forward in providing sustainable housing solutions for families and individuals in Wānaka.”
The McDougall Street build highlights the ongoing commitment of the Housing Trust to work alongside the community, council, and partners to deliver innovative housing options where they’re needed most.
