At Weird World HQ, we’re no strangers to poking fun at AI — and this latest tech misfire is chef’s kiss levels of chaos.
In what sounds like a deleted scene from Fast & the Curious (and Clueless), a Tesla in self-driving mode decided to take a left turn… straight onto a set of train tracks.
Yep. This happened. In Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania, no less. (We’re not making that town name up.)
🚗 According to MSN, the incident took place in mid-June, with three passengers on board.
🚨 Luckily, all three escaped safely and even had time to grab their stuff before a real-life train rolled past a few minutes later.
🛠️ The car? Just a busted mirror — though it had to be crane-lifted off the tracks due to its potentially flammable battery pack. Yikes.
Western Berks Fire Commissioner Jared Renshaw said they'd seen Teslas in crashes before, but this was the first time someone mentioned autopilot was involved.
🚦 A Modern Reminder…
Tech can be smart, but clearly not always street smart. If your car wants to play chicken with a freight train — maybe it's time to grab the wheel yourself.
Stay weird, stay wary, and maybe don’t let your car make every decision for you.
