We caught up with Ruth Blunt from Wastebusters on the show today, and the big message was simple… it’s all about the shop right now. If you’ve been thinking about a second-hand treasure hunt, this is your moment.

The dome is overflowing

Ruth says they’re stacked with furniture at the moment.
• Beds and couches galore
• Indoor and outdoor furniture
• BBQs ready for summer hangs
• Sun shades
• Water sports gear

Basically, if you’re kitting out a flat, upgrading your backyard or just hunting for a bargain, you’re spoiled for choice.

Perfect timing for summer and rainy days

Inside the shop you’ll find:
• Loads of books
• Board games and puzzles for wet days
• Summer clothing for the hot Central Otago weather

It’s a great excuse to pop in and browse.

Got big items to donate?

Ruth reminds everyone to call ahead before dropping off large items. That way the team can let you know if there’s space and save you a wasted trip.

Repair Café is back in February

Good news if something’s broken but not beyond saving.
The Repair Café returns on February 15, 10am to 2pm at the community hub.

Huge shout-out to the talented volunteer fixers who’ve already signed up. If you’ve got repair skills and want to get involved, email:

What do I do with this stuff?

One of the most common questions Wastebusters gets is “Where does this go?”

QLDC has a super handy A–Z rubbish and recycling directory that answers most of those tricky disposal questions.

Important summer safety reminder

Gas bottles and butane canisters:
• Take them to the transfer station
• Never put them in your household bins
• They can explode when compacted in rubbish trucks

Not something you want on your conscience.
